In The Spotlight: Friends of Our Florida Reefs

Feral Friends of our Florida Reefs

Spotlight Project joined forces with Friends of Our Florida Reefs to host a Feral Friends Showdown at the Cove Brewery in Deerfield Beach.

On January 9, 2026, The Spotlight Project hosted “Feral Friends Showdown: a live painting competition’ and community art event benefiting Friends of Our Florida Reefs, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and restoring Florida’s coral reef ecosystem.

Local artists competed in a fast-paced live art experience, creating reef-inspired works in real time while engaging the public in the creative process. The event brought together artists, conservation advocates, and community members for an evening that celebrated art, environmental awareness, and marine conservation.

Throughout the night, attendees learned about the importance of Florida’s coral reefs, the threats they face, and how organizations like Friends of Our Florida Reefs are working to protect over 100 miles of barrier reef. Proceeds from the event directly supported reef conservation, education, and restoration efforts.
